The Country of Texas
THE COUNTRY of TEXAS
Please note that Texas is the only state with a legal right to secede from the Union. (Reference the Texas-American Annexation Treaty of 1848.)
We Texans love y'all, but we'll probably have to take action since B. Hussein Obama won the election. We'll miss you too.
Here is what can happen:
1: Barack Hussein Obama becomes President of the United States, Texas immediately secedes from the Union.
So what does Texas have to do to survive as a Republic?
1. NASA is just south of Houston, Texas. We will control the space industry.
2. We refine over 85% of the gasoline in the United States now anyway.
3. Defense Industry--we have over 65% of it. The term "Don't mess with Texas," will take on a whole new meaning.
4. Oil - we can supply all the oil that the Republic of Texas will need for the next 300 years. Yankee states? Sorry about that.
5. Natural Gas - again we have all we need and it's too bad about those Northern States. John Kerry will have to figure out a way to keep them warm....
6. Computer Industry - we currently lead the nation in producing computer chips and communications--small companies like Texas Instruments, Dell Computer, EDS, Raytheon, National Semiconductor, Motorola, Intel, AMD, Atmel, Applied Materials, Ball Miconductor, Dallas Semiconductor, Delphi, Nortel, Alcatel, etc, etc. The list goes on and on.
7. Medical Care - We have the largest research centers for cancer research, the best burn centers and the top trauma units in the world, as well as other large health centers. Dallas and Houston has some of the best hospitals in the United States.
8. We have enough colleges to keep us going: University of Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Rice, SMU, University of Houston, Baylor, UNT (University of North Texas), Texas Women's University, etc. Ivy grows better in the South anyway.
9. We have a ready supply of workers. We could just open the border when we need some more. oops, I forgot, it's already open......sooo we'll close it until needed.
10. We have essential control of the paper industry, plastics, insurance, etc.
11. In case of a foreign invasion, we have the Texas National Guard and the Texas Air National Guard. We don't have an Army, but since everybody down here has at least six rifles and a (huge) pile of ammo, we can raise an Army in 24 hours if we need one. If the situation really gets bad, we can always call The Department of Public Safety and ask them to send over Chuck Norris and a couple of Texas Rangers.
12. We are totally self-sufficient in beef, poultry, hogs, and several types of grain, fruit and vegetables, and let's not forget seafood from the Gulf. Also, everybody down here knows how to cook them so that they taste good. Don't need any food.
This just names a few of the items that will keep the Republic of Texas in good shape. There isn't a thing out there that we need and don't have.
Now to the rest of the United States under President Obama:
Since you won't have the refineries to get gas for your cars, only President Obama will be able to drive around in his big 9 mpg SUV. The rest of the United States will have to walk or ride bikes.
You won't have any TV as the Space Center in Houston will cut off satellite communications.
You won't have any natural gas to heat your homes, but since Mr. Obama has predicted global warming, you will not need the gas as long as you survive the 2000 years it will take to get enough heat from Global Warming.
Signed, The People of Texas
P.S. This is not a threatening letter - just a note to give you something to think about.
SLEEP WELL TONIGHT THE EYES OF TEXAS ARE UPON YOU!!

Hunting bears - with a camera
Something new for me in the deer woods - 4 bears. On a long drive yesterday, Jim John kicked a mother and 3 cubs out of a swamp about 75' from me. It took me a minute or two to put the rifle down and get my camera out of my pants pocket, so I only got this one shot off. There are only 2 cubs in the shot, but there WERE three!

A landmark attack
This landmark attack in the annals of modern terrorism should give all of our first responders something to think seriously about. Will the Mumbai tactics become the norm? And how do we beat them? I talked to Andy about this Thursday - my suggestion was not pretty. We may have to demonstrate a low regard for human life until we kill all the bad guts...

New old motorcycle
This is a 175cc 1973 Yamaha CT-3 street/trail motorcycle. It is the first new motorcycle I ever owned, and the vehicle I was riding when I started the destruction of my hips - my fault, not the bikes! I have been itching to get my license back and have a small dual purpose bike to shake the cobwebs out of my brain once in a while. I saw this on Craig's List Friday and went to Lockhart with tom to look at it - and bought it. It needs some work, but it started once when the seller tried. It is obvious that it has been sitting for most of the 35 years of it's life, but the gold paint is still good, only 1 small tank dent, original tires with 1760 miles still have the pips on them. It needs a new Autolube pump and carb rebuilt. Ebay and JCWhitney seem to have nearly everything I need. I hope to have it on the road before the end of the year.

Election Night thoughts
Short note - ok, we're at Andy and Jamie's at an election night 'party' == first time for me to spend a night like this away from my sanctum. It looks like mcCain is going down. I'm concerned for the future, but not suicidal. All things considered the election is closer than predicted. Just consider:
- outspent by BHO 4:1
- bush in the tank
- financial meltdown blamed on Repubs
- war fatigue - and success
- press in the tank
More tomorrow...

BHO showing his core values
You know, it was during the third debate that a question was asked about the Supreme Court, or justices - can't remember which. McCain answered with comments about strict constructionists, adhering to the constitution, etc. BHO talked about fairness and empathy toward the lower classes, etc. - nothing about the constitution at all. You'd thing that a constitutional law professor/instructor would understand how the three branches of our government worked. But now it has come to light why he said what he said - he doesn't like the way our government works, and thinks the Constitution is a barrier to his idea of government growth. See Betsy Newmark's comments and links, or go directly to the Chosen one's words. This was recorded in 2001 - not that long ago - and discovered by a citizen, not our 'in the tank' press!

Thoughts
This one has no link, just a few observations from me.
Kicked the 4 pointer off the lawn on the way to work yesterday. He looks bigger than I thought up close.
It is nice to see the polls looking a little tighter lately. I remember when Clinton won in '92 how bad I felt about the future, even though he was a 'new democrat'. If McCain can't pull this out I will be absolutely sick about the future of: taxes, the 1st Amendment, the 2nd Amendment, federalism, capitalism, the Supreme Court, climate change based laws, and a Constitutional Convention. Watching Pelosi, Reid, and BHO having a mutual orgasm with Chris Dodd and Barney Frank will put me off my meds for good. Maybe I'll be lucky and Texas will vote to secede.

How To Save the Government $5 Million
How To Save the Government $5 Million: "A president's pension currently is $191,300 per year, until he is 80 years old.
Assuming the next president lives to age 80. Sen. McCain would receive ZERO pension as he would reach 80 at the end of two terms as president. Sen. Obama would be retired for 26 years after two terms and would receive $4,973,800 in pension.
Therefore it would certainly make economic sense to elect McCain in November.
How's that for non partisan thinking?"

Biden's Factual errors
Now, as a 'trained' salesperson, you learn how to speak with authority about things you know very little about. You can easily assume 90% of your audience knows less than you do, and the rest will not want to stop and challenge you. It seems Joe Biden stretches that percentage to the limit. I was going to try to link to a lot of the information, but Betsy does a great job of compiling the information.

Skills Everyone Should Know
Something a little bit different today. 100 skills every guy (and gal) should know how to do to feel competent. I haven't gone through them all yet - let me know which one's you think are the absolute best, or hardest to master! I'll tell you what I think over the weekend.
Stay happy - we sent our termination letter to Belgium yesterday. Time to turn another page in my life.
But first, I'm going hunting with Jim in NY this year, bought a warm pair of boots last weekend, the rest I can get by with mostly what I have, I hope. Lots of deer on the lawn eating up my corn lately. All does, except one little fork horn, not the one Jim saw last month. No racks like at the lake, next year I need a feed plot!

'naive' obama
This is truly a man who doesn't know we are at war!
"At one stop, he called for new restrictions on deployment of National Guard and Reserve troops along with an expansion of benefits for them and their families. 'I will not be a president who extends tours for our Guard units overseas while Americans are stranded on rooftops right here at home,' Obama said. He said he would require 'a period of rest and standard of readiness' before troops could be redeployed. He called for the head of the National Guard to be elevated to four-star rank and given a seat among the Joint Chiefs of Staff to reflect the heavy reliance on Guard soldiers and reservists during the Iraq war."
This is a man to naive to be President - whether in a time of war or not.

Houston solved the first long-term crisis Katrina caused—what to do with thousands of desperate citizens washed out of their homes—because elected local and county officials carried out Shea’s style of determined competence on a mass scale with military precision. The city augmented its own resources with volunteers from churches, temples, corporations, and charities to take in what amounted to a new population equal to 10 percent of its own citizenry over seven days, and to place two-thirds of these evacuees into housing within weeks.
They have worked hard to get the evacuees into housing rather than keeping them holed up in hotels waiting in some sort of housing limbo. Hurricane Katrina evacuees flew into the nation's capital to tell President Bush to stop blaming local officials for his mistakes and acknowledge that budget cuts and indifference by his administration led to the disaster in New Orleans and along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
They intend to ask him why he diverted over 40 percent of federal funding between 2001-2005 away from New Orleans. Hundreds are expected to rally in front of the White House at 1 p.m. EDT on Thursday.
'The President of the United States and his appointees let us down,' said Christine Mayfield, a New Orleans public school teacher and mother of three who was dislocated and now is staying in North Carolina.
The evacuees are also seeking a meeting with Rep. Henry Waxman, the ranking Democrat on the Government Oversight Committee.
According to Rep. Waxman, 'the budget of the Corps of Engineers for construction projects in New Orleans district was cut by over 40 percent between 2001 and 2005, apparently to free up funds for the war in Iraq and homeland security projects. In 2004, for the first time in 37 years, the Corps halted all work on the New Orleans levee system.'

South Louisiana
Well now - quite a week in the Gulf so far. I won't comment on the incompetence of the governor and mayor, or the knee-jerk blaming of Bush, or the race baiting of the race-pimps. But something has been sticking in my craw about something that doesn't seem to add up - the poverty class in south LA in spite of the riches flowing through the region. Now, I don't know The Big Easy as well as I'd like to - just love the food, music, and booze - but how can a region that has its fingers on so much value coming in, out going out of the country be so poor? Is the government corruption the reason, or union dock workers? There is no way that there is a lack of tax money to have adequate schooling, or services unless people don't want them or the money goes into someone else's pockets? I've seen life at 'Nawlins' pace, and realize that a good percentage of the lower class are possibly just fine with their life in low gear (or they would get out). But to have inadequate police ( the place is always dangerous, even for locals), no planning that works, and sense of urgency before the storm, just is real difficult for me to understand.

Dennis Miller on 'The Tonight Show With Jay Leno'
Feb. 25, 2003
Jay Leno: Let me ask you, war inevitable, what do you got?
Dennis Miller: Listen, we have got to do it soon, just — we've got to mark our turf. I think Iraq is like East Korea. I think you got to send a message to these people over there, and I think this build-up to the war is why we're having all this controversy.
"I would call the French scum bags, but that, of course, would be a disservice to bags filled with scum."
Because the last one, is it just me or did it seem to happen just like that. Was watching CNN one night, the first Gulf War, they are sitting around in the Baghdad hotel, the No Roof Inn or something, and they're watching "the Bachelor," and it's a little harder for the bachelor over there because it's tough to tell who's hot under the Burqua. They had just ordered some hummuus and smores from room service and all of a sudden a gallaga game broke out. The sky was full.
We waited so long here, of course you'll hear a lot of controversy. I think it's time to go in. You think the Elite Republican Guard is really going to stop us? Anybody remember these guys from the last battle? They warned us, you don't want to run into the Elite Republican Guard, they're killing machines. We got 20 miles away from them, all we saw is Roadrunner clouds running off into the distance. They were in Vegas last week opening for Robert Goulet.
I think it's time to start the war. My favorite Afghani war story is the Al Qaeda fighter who is crushed to death by the dissenting humanitarian food pallet. Everybody sitting around in the next life at the Psychotic Algonquin Roundtable swapping tales. What happened to you, Khalid? I saw a shadow, looked up, Del Monte cling peaches coming right at my head. I didn't even have the Kevlar turban on that day.
Listen, it's time to do something. For God's sake, Saddam Hussein is — well, it kills me that so many people are thinking this man — I hear this revisionist stuff now, that he doesn't deserve
to be attacked. It's unbelievable to me. I saw Ed Harris one night speaking at a pro-choice — pro-choice rally. Ed Harris the actor said we shouldn't go to war. I was thinking if you can't get your head around the war, why don't you just think of it as choosing to abort Saddam Hussein. Wouldn't that be a rationale that you could possibly —
Listen, we got to take care of ourselves now. I mean who going to protect us? I'm not saying we have to be trigger happy, but let's not be trigger sad either. Who are we going to bank on. You going to rely on the Germans? For god's sake, with the Germans you never know if they're not signing on because they don't believe in it or it's just not on a grand enough scale, you know. The Germans, it's like when Alfred Nobel started giving the peace prize. You know where he made his fortune, dynamite, he invented dynamite. He was so haunted he was going to go to hell, he said at the end, here's 9 million, give out the peace award. That's what the Germans do. They know they've got the skankiest track record on the planet earth so now they'll be obstinate about being pacifists.
Even with bad guys, the Russians, I don't know, I think Putin is on a tight leash right now because of that nerve gas disaster they had in Moscow. Really stop to think about it, if they could take out that many friedlies liberating an opera house, do you really want them flying off your wing in a real war? You know something? The Belgians, you knew they'd waffle?
That brings us to... well, you know where that brings us, to the French. The French, you might as well gas up the dinghy and go fishing with Fredo because you are dead to me, okay. You know something? These pricks are now putting — they're putting swastikas on our flag in France. You've got all those boys buried in Normandy. And after we had the good taste to chisel the
armpit hair off the Statue of Liberty you gave us, you know something, I — always thought that tint was oxdized copper. Little did I know it was green with envy.
You know something, I say we don't let these guys on the war train now. They don't want to be involved, fine. I say the train pulls out, leave them on the platform and say listen you're not allowed to fight with us now. You guys want to get your hands dirty at this late date, you'll have to run them through your own hair.
"If you're in a peace march and the guy next to you has a sign that says Bush is Hitler, forget the peace thing for a second and beat his ass, because he is not Hitler."
You know something, everybody's talking about post-liberation Iraq and who should take care of it. Listen, you know they need the oil and you know there's a lot of dirty paper on the French providing reactor parts that we're going to unearth. I'd have a back channel call from Bush to Chirac and I'd tell him, listen, pal, you know who's going to handle the day-to-day necessities of the noble Iraqi, it's you, my friend. Consierge is a French word, isn't it?
You know something, if they couldn't — I say we invade Iraq and then invade Chirac. You run a pipe -- you run a pipe from the oilfield right over this Eiffel Tower, shoot it up and have the world's biggest oil derrick. We got a picture of it right here. Yeah. Listen, I would call the French scum bags, but that, of course, would be a disservice to bags filled with scum.
I'm just saying listen, I'dlike to have allies too. What's happening in this world right now, we have a competency chasm. We are getting real good at what we do and the whole world is going to hell in a handbasket. As that gap gets wider, they'll hate us more and more and more. We are simultaneously the most hated, feared, loved and admired planet — nation on this planet. In short, we are Frank Sinatra and you know something, the Chairman didn't get to be the Chairman lying down for punks outside the
Fountainbleu.
Now listen, I don't know what I think of George W. Bush when he first got in, but I've grown fond of the man, and maybe it's the times we live in. They say he's not an environmentalist. But every time I see his ranch on tv, it looks pretty nice. You know something, if we all took care of our own, we'd have a great environment.
I think he ought to take Saddam Hussein on this debate, I like that idea. Because we can't find the guy anyway. Maybe this is a way to flush him out, huh? He can say... — I hate to go back to the Godfather again, but we just sit Bush down and say, listen, we know where the debate is. Halfway through the opening remarks you say you got to take a pee, go into the bathroom, Rumsfeld will tape a gun up under the flusher. You come out, make sure it's there. Rumsfeld, I don't want my president walking out of there with just his dick in his hand. You put two shots into Hussein's head, you drop the gun and walk out of the restaurant. You do not run.
Listen, I do not need a time of war to see peace protestors — and that's fine, peace is fine, dissident is fine, that's the American way, but the Nazi signs have got to stop. If you're in a peace march and the guy next to you has a sign that says Bush is Hitler, forget the peace thing for a second and beat his ass, because he is not Hitler.
You know something, this is — this stuff has got to stop, somebody's got to say something good in this community about this man. I'm starting a new web sit, pro-Bush, called www dot w. And you know something, if you're watching tonight, President Bush, and I'm not sure you are because I got a feeling you watch the national network reruns of "BJ and The Bear," but if you're watching, I want to just say, I think you're doing a hell of a job and I'm proud that you're my president. I want to thank you and wish you Godspeed because you got a tough deal of the cards. I think there are a lot more people out here on your side than you would think.
You know, Jay, I used to be a liberal. You look at what happens in the State of California with untethered liberalism. Everybody in this state in charge now is a Democrat. It's no longer the Andreas Fault, it's Gray Davis's fault. This is what happens when you elect lawyers. Shakespeare said first kill all the lawyers. I've been doing some some thinking, I think we could get away with it because if you kill all of them, at our murder trial, we wouldn't have adequate representation.

Hi again
Wow, its been a long time since I sat down and put anything on this page - over a month. A lot of personal stuff has been happening that should be straightened out soon. With the SOTU going on tonight, its a new term, and a fresh start for the Dembo's to begin the new fight. I'm right on the cust of whether Social Security reform would help me or not - but it is absolutely critical for my kids and grandkids. My family is not, and has never been wealthy, so inheritance is not in my vocabulary. Any gov't program that allows you to contribute to an account you own and can pass on is the correct way to go through life.
Got to run...

After looking at this information from the Joint Economic Committee, how can anyone say that the system is not broken.
