Taxes and rich
Stories like New York Post Online Edition: business">this get me mad. For the last 10 years or so, I've been in 1 of the higher tax rates, but I have never been able to consider myself rich - had a couple of years with above average disposable income, but that's another story.
Anyway, all that kind of story does is get me angry about the 'working wealthy' class(WWC) that is often referred to. It's obvious that the WWC, a misnomer if there ever was one because they aren't wealthy, pays at a much higher tax rate than the really rich class(RRC) do. Proof - the Kerry's only paid federal taxes at a 12% rate - I paid that rate 20 years ago. I would love to pay only 12% to the feds, it might give me a chance to really be wealthy. I can only dream.

Early voting in Texas
I love getting to vote early here in Texas. I enjoy the activity of going to the polls, so voting absentee with my travel schedule never held much appeal. It is a great feeling to 'punch your ticket' (we have those Florida style things here) and get your 'I Voted' sticker - mine's on the truck window for all to see!. I tried to vote twice yesterday - well I only voted once - the lines in Dripping Springs were so long yesterday (2 hours at 11:15am), that I ran some errands, then voted around 3:00pm when the lines were down to an hour. Patricia was a poll worker and said they have nearly 1000 people vote in the 5 hours the polls were open. Someone told her that Tuesday was about the same - only one more day to vote early here, this coming Tuesday. Patricia will hold off until Election day to vote at our local precinct, we're trying to keep it as a distinct precinct so it needs as many voters as possible. The interest, even in a safe Bush state, is incredible. While I'm travelling I get to see a lot of ads that never come to Texas. I can't imagine what would happen if Texas was ever in play!
The Kerry equation for winning
The article below lists all the recent lies of the Kerry team - hoping nobody is smart enough to listen. Of course, there are a lot od citizens who will be fooled - shame they don't also get lost on the way to the polls!

Leadership
Polipundit has it right.
PoliPundit.com Leadership
But he missed commenting on Kerry defining his leadership skills as waiting to see if you can get France/Germany/Russia to agree with you befor moving on something. Or looking at the political landscape before starting to 'hoe a row'. Anybody can lead like Kerry - just bitch about what the other guy did and say you'll do better - no details please, that'll just leave a trail to the snakes spineless track!

Wanted: Dead or Alive
THE BELGRAVIA DISPATCH: Wanted: Dead or Alive
In line with my thoughts - he's toast in the mountains somewhere, and I think the Bushies know it. They're quiet about it to keep him from becoming a martyr. I totally agree with the tactic - better off that there are questions, than giving the killers a focus. Let them gather together in Iraq so we can kill them in bunches!

This link shows the mindset of many of our leading liberals in the Federal govt today. It demonstrates their feeling that all power flows from the govt, and ties into the attitude that all money is owned by the govt, and is 'granted' to us peons. This is wrong.

Is UBL Kerry's only target?
Interesting post on the different attitudes about who we are fighting. A good question to the Kerry campaign might be - If UBL were ccaught or killed if you were President, what would you do next? Call back all the troops and call it the war a victory or do something else?
The answer would reveal if he really did think this was a law enforcement effort or not.

Follow this link for something different!. I'll try to make one TOMORROW! I'm sitting on the front porch, finishing off a bottle of Sangre' de Toro by myself - did some interior wood working this pm and feeling no pain. Ah, blogging on the porch in October Texas air! What could be finer? Bend a couple aluminum arrows this morning - dumb - but I'm finally getting the feeling for my bow - need to kill a deer soon!

Why we are fighting
Captain Ed is publishing a series of letters from a middle east vet to his sons, explaining why we are there and what we are fighting for.

Naive and biased
The following article by a Notre Dame prof shows a very limited view of why abortions dropped while Clinton was president. Did he forget about the Rep effort to reform welfare? And that is his reason to urge Catholics to vote Dem this election cycle?

ABC in the Tank for the Dems, too!
This is shameful, but not unexpected. Can you believe someone would put this in writing? Well, I guess so, considering even the AFL/CIO is bragging about vandalizing Republican offices.
Can NBC be next? Or do Tim & Tom have a little more sense of journalistic responsibility?

Nothing more to say - congratulations to John Howard. Shame on Kerry and his sister for trying to influence their election.

Why Kerry is not capable of protecting us
The following is a long read, but is the most logical, detail deconstruction of JK's 'war plans' that I have ever read.
Eject! Eject! Eject!

Dirty Little Secret About Boots And Body Armor
See this story that exposes how little Edwards knows about how the military works - and uses his lack of knowledge as a campaign issue.

VP debate - domestic issues
9:45 - Ifill asking better questions than I expected
DC - stressing education to improve jobs and the economy, talking bi-partisanship
JE - negative, negative - lost jobs! Poverty! The demon 'outsourcing'.
DC - needs to address jobs - but I agree to cover all the issues he mentioned.
JE - poverty, medical failures - ech!
JE - talking a bout fiscal turnaround - moral responsibility to protect our kids - how? Roll back tax cuts >$200k, but give more to theose <$200k; W made govt bigger
DC - hits JKs tax increase record - W/DC want us to keep our own money! Small businesses would be killed under JKs plan - and thats where the jobs come from; uses JE's words about JK's plan driving deficit further
JE - JK voted for tax cuts over 600 times - for who?
DC - JK/JE weren't there to vote for yesterdays tax cuts
DC - gay issue --

VP debate
DC hits JK on his Senate voting history - finally! I hope he says something about JK missing 75% of meetings the last 20 years.
JE says "Halliburton" - tacky!
JE steps on DC's words - poor form - ssays the inspectors would have kept us out of the war.
9:30 - JE - we'll do more of the same, just faster; now talking about the body armor issue, getting 'more' countries in the coalition, cutting combat pay -- all BS
DC - hitting back on the inconsistancies; talking about how JK insulted Allawi 2 weeks ago
JE - putting a price tag on our winning a war, saying the Iraqi casualties are our casualties - JE talks over top again -- poor
9:35 - DC - covers the Halliburton/sanctions issues pretty smoothly; explains WHY we are treating Iran differently from Iraq; covering Libya's capitulation - good.
JE - smokescreen over 'who do we invade next'; didn't he listen to DC's answer about Halliburton; OH - now Ken Lay and Enron are mentioned!
DC - responds with athority
9:42 - JE pandering about the Israeli issue
DC - hitting on JE's Senate attendance record; coming back about W's record of supporting Israel
JE - attacking DC's voting record

Can't stand JE
- assuming that UBL was in Afghanistan at the start of the war
- re-hashing the $200B number
- dodging the lobal test issue
- complaining that we are carrying 90% of the load - no one else in the world COULD do this job!
