Coming in October - Celsius 41.11
Follow this link to a trailer about a movie to counter Michael Moore's F9/11 movie lies. Be warned, even the trailer is gruesome.

Kerry on Letterman
First impression - what an ass...
Every soundbite from the last 3 1/2 years rolled into a 20 minute sit down. I was pretty impressed with DL asking more than softball questions about flip-flopping, etc. The clincher for me was his great question -- "if you had been elected president in 2000, would we be at war in Iraq?" Answer, after a big circle of stuff was - no! He would rather have Saddam in place than assure the safety of our country and people.
He also looked uncomfortable and a little sweaty to me - he's feeling the heat!

AntiAmerican?
From Blogs for Bush, this is what some Democrats have come to...
Blogs for Bush: "City council candidate calls for killing Bush
Liberals, can we call them anti-American now?
Daniel Avila, 25, admitted Wednesday that he handed out fliers at the city's Oktoberfest celebration stating, 'President George W. Bush Deserves to Be Assassinated.' The handbill also called for a sex attack on the president's twin daughters.
What a pathetic attempt at logic this moron puts forth. He needs to be in prison with a few lifer rapists as his roommates. My guess is after a few years of having his own personal sex attacks, he won't be so gung-ho to promote having it done to others.
But that is just a guess.
'I just think people need to allow something they don't like in their society to exist. In general that's what democracy is all about.'
After yesterdays attack on the 3 year old girl and now this, the Democrats no longer have the ability to surprise me when it comes to the hate they exhibit.
UPDATE : another candidate for state office wants Bush executed - No, I am not surprised in the least.

Where is the candidate?
USATODAY.com:
Since USA Today is keeping such a tight rein on how much time W is spending on the road - do you think they will mention Kerry's nearly 2 year absenteeism?
"Back on not-so-familiar turf: President Bush is at the White House today, the first time since Aug. 2 that he hasn't been out of Washington for at least part of the day.
In those 44 days, he visited 21 states. Most of the travel was to the dozen or so closely contested states: six trips to Ohio, five to Pennsylvania, four each to Iowa, Florida, Michigan and West Virginia and twice to Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Nevada and Wisconsin. He also has stayed at his Texas ranch three times and visited his parents' home in Kennebunkport, Maine.
Bush's travel days have been in double digits every month since February. Since Memorial Day, there have been only 10 days when he hasn't ventured out. Posted at 6:45 a.m. ET."

Next step in the war?
Channelnewsasia.com
Is this the justification we need to move the next step of the war into Syria? And clean up the Sudan at the same time? My worry is that we should do this, but that we are out of troops. You kno that we would also hear from the left that we are being distracted from getting Bin Laden. When will they get it that UBL is just one part of the war? He was an early 'touch stone', but a long way from the permanent personification of those who want to kill us all. On the same note - I feel for all the 9/11 families - but, don't the widows that keep getting trotted out to ask why we don't concentrate first on getting UBL before we do anything else ever step back to see the big picture? This war is much more comprehensive, as it needs to be, than just being myopic about one of the enemy's divisions.

Bush hater in Dripping
I discovered that one of the supporters that Dan Rather used last week in his hit piece on W lives out her in Dripping - Robert Strong. He is a prof at St. Edwards U. in Austin and was in the Reserves at the same time, but never met W personally. Haven't found out where he lives, but this interview is illuminating.

Who drives the debate
What is important to whom? Why is it that the MSM is driving the interest in Bush's ANG record, but it is Kerry's associates who are behind the interest in Kerry's Navy history? How is it that REAL has an ageb

See below more details on the tactics of who we are fighting. There is no reasoning with this type of enemy - there is only kill or be killed. These were children!!!

Sullivan mis-reads the DNC convention
Reading the following tonight at http://andrewsullivan.com/:
DIVIDE, DIVIDE: One other thing has troubled me, after mulling the NYC convention for a few days. It struck me that John Kerry at his convention did something politically shrewd but also historically significant. He took a reluctant Democratic base and emphatically backed the war on terror. Yes, he did not relinquish criticism of the war in Iraq, nor of the way in which the Bush administration had made the case for war. But it was not a left-wing convention, and it signaled a welcome shift among Democrats to a more war-oriented approach. The Republicans essentially responded by throwing back this concession in John Kerry's face. They refused to take "yes, but" for an answer, and dredged up the divisions of the Vietnam War as a means to further polarize the electorate. Again, this might be good politics, but it is surely bad for the country. I believe in this war, which is also why I believe it is important to get as many Democrats to support it. But the Republicans have all but declared that this is a Republican war - and can only be conducted by a Republican president. I think they will live to regret this almost as much as the country will. And I fear the animosity and division that are already part of the cultural fabric (by no means all fomented by the president) could get worse in the coming years - to the glee of our enemies. In wartime, unity matters. When a campaign deliberately tries to maximize polarization to its advantage, it simultaneously undermines the war. Winning this war is more important than building a new Republican majority. But somehow I don't think that's how Karl Rove sees it.
There were interviews during the convention that had delegates stating that they were just suppressing their anti-war stance for the duration of the convention so they could put on a good face for the 'public'. They said that once JK was in office, that all would be back to normal and that he would pull the forces out of IRAQ ASAP.
Andrew, how did you miss that so easily?

From the family site
I wasn't trying to offend anyone with my earlier posts on the family site - it was all done with love and concern over all of our future safety. Susan - you, Jim, and all your kids mean a lot to us here in Texas. I was never very political, aside from joining ZPG in college as a way to meet girls. But as I have gotten older, and how the world changed after 9/11, I have a greater need to contribute to the safety of my daughter's family, your's, and everyone else's. I make no bones over my political philosophy: the safety of our country and its citizens, strict adherence to the constitution, help for those who cannot (not will not) help themselves, personal responsibility, equal access and opportunity for all, and freedom FOR all religions of peace. A great summary of all this was given by my 8th grade history teacher, who said that democracy was 'freedom WITH responsibility'. He also said, that our freedom was a direct result of having a strong military.
Anyway - this is where I will keep all that stuff - please feel free to comment. Patricia will be writing and posting too.
